Why You Need a Website for Your Business

business website If you are serious about your business then you must have your own website to promote your company and what you have to offer.  Afterall, if you don’t have your own website how can potential clients find you when they search for you online?  Most people these days research a business online before contacting or buying, and this goes for any type of business and I’m sure you do the same.

Although you may already be getting business equiries from having your business listed in online directories, you could be attracting far more as well as earning much more by having your own website.

A website gives off a more professional impression to potential new clients and can be working for you 24/7 instead of your normal working hours.  Think of it as a loyal, unpaid employee that can grow with your business.

There are a few reasons why businesses don’t have their own website and they usually boil down to  – limited budget and/or lack of know-how.  You can build your own no-frills website for a startup fee of about $20 (£13), buy a pre-created website that you just need to customize (add your logo) and add your own content for $197 (£125) so it’s extremely affordable to get your own website.  If lack of know-how is holding you back then we know how and can get you started for free!  There really isn’t any excuse for not having your own website.

Need More Reasons?  Imagine this scenario:

Joe Public is trying to find a business who can provide him with “x” service.  Unfortunately Joe works during the day and wasn’t able to research until he got home, well after most businesses have closed for the evening.  He searches for “service x” in his local area and gets many results returned.  Among the results are businesses with their own websites which he clicks on to see what they provide, some aren’t very clear on what they do and he will need to contact them to find out more when he gets a chance.  He then finds one website that explains everything that they do, including service “x” and makes it easy for Joe to make an appointment for when he is free from work.  By being able to do everything online it has solved Joe’s problem without having to find an opportune moment to contact the business.  He’s extremely happy!

Businesses are usually only open from 9 to 5 – that’s 8 hours – 16 hours where an answer machine will answer any enquires.  A website can do things SO much better and pre-sell your services to any potential customer.  Also, if you are finding that many callers to your business are asking the same question, if you had a website you could put these questions and answers on your website, to free up your or your receptionists time.

Now imagine if your highly satisfied customers wanted to share with other how great your service is.  How easy do you make it for them?  If you don’t have a website then it’s more difficult and a customer may be less likely to rave about the great service they’ve just had – unless they are asked.

One thing we feel very strongly about is that, whether or not you are our client, you need to be in total control of your own website.  This means that you have 24/7 access to add and edit your website and you have direct access to your website files.  The only way you can lose control of your website is if you don’t pay your web hosting invoice.  A web designer/developer should never have your website under their control, unless you have given them access.  You should own your own domain and your hosting.  We set up all our client this way.
